  • Overview

    RN: Demonstrates proficiency and independence in the care of patients and their families/significant others by applying and documenting the nursing process; assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Consults with staff, physicians and management on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Continues to learn new skills and maintains clinical competency within the department to provide direct and safe patient care.

     

    LPN: Provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communications needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision

     

    CMA: Provide patient care and assistance to physician

    Responsibilities

    RN:

    • Experience in a medical office setting.
    • Must be understanding, courteous and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff.
    • Assist Doctor with patients.
    • Demonstrate knowledge in a medical office.
    • Anticipate doctor’s needs for each patient based upon patient complaints and treatment plan/guidelines.
    • Verify that patient results, x-rays, labs and procedure reports are in patient charts prior to seeing doctor.
    • Gather patient’s vitals and complaints, document in patient medical record.
    • Chart accurately and legibly to include lab results.
    • Facilitate physician and patient communications.
    • Complete lab requisition forms and assure that specimens are sent to correct labs per patient insurance contract.
    • Maintain and monitor exam room and procedure room supplies and instruments.
    • Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance to OSHA Regulations. Clean autoclave as required.
    • Perform minor procedures as direct by Physician: injections, suture, and staple removal.
    • Complete clinical portions of chart preparation.
    • Schedule surgery and give patient appropriate instructions prior to surgery and refer to Front Office Coordinator or Office Manager for insurance authorization.

     

    LPN:

    • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients age.
    • Demonstrates ability under direct supervision of an RN, to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
    • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition.
    • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
    • Demonstrates ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
    • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
    • Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of an RN.
    • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families
    • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.

    • Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Services/Case Management regarding both in-hospital and post discharge needs.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
    • Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients needs.

     

    CMA:

    Office Manager for insurance authorization.
    • Provide backup surgery scheduling.

     

    Qualifications

    RN:

    • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, baccalaureate degree preferred.
    • Current New Mexico State Registered Nurse Licensure.
    • Current BLS certification
    • Able to communicate effectively in English.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal skills.
    • Basic computer knowledge.
    • Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

    • Behavioral Med - IP BLS within one month of employment. CPI within 6 months of employment

     

    LPN:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program.
    • Current LPN/LVN Licensure in State of New Mexico.
    • Current American Heart – HeartSaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
    • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
    • Basic computer knowledge.

     

    CMA:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Certification: Current American Heart – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Nationally recognized certification as a medical assistant. (If the candidate is not certified at time of interview and has significant relevant experience, the candidate may be selected if and only if they agree to complete the certification process within six (6) months of employment. Must be explained and candidates signature to job description indicates an understanding that the position is contingent on successfully passing the certification examination within the first six (6) months of employment). 
    • Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
